Dear David! As far as I understand your aim is to realize connection between 2 PCs using physical cable. Actually, our company deals with virtualization software. In other words, we produce software solutions that allow to emulate null-modem connection via network connection.
Please let me know what is the profit of using parallel/serial port conection instead of Ethernet twisted pair cable connection? Please give us more details of your project so that we could understand your case better. Be sure, we will do our best to provide you with proper solution.

I want to connect an older computer to this computer for use as a server. This computer is a 1.8 Mhz processor, 1 gig memory, Windows XP SR3. The server would be a 1.0 Mhz processor, 256 kb memory, Windows 98 SR2.

I think a full handshake null modem will let me do this.

Is this correct? If so, which is better - a parallel port connection, or a serial port connection?

Is any software necessary?

If a full handshake null modem will let me do this, plese email me the appropriate model / sku number(s) and price(s). The cable length would be six feet.

Thank You! David Colbert, New Jersey.
